A little history on this design, Ghostown knives and my family.

In 1996 my parents sold everything non vital and our family moved from a house in Phoenix to a motorhome (a 1969 dodge champion with a big old 440 in it).

We lived in that motorhome and spent 5 years covering well over 500.000 miles and all of the continental US states.

The whole trip was supported entirely by my parents hand made art, mainly but not entirely Ghostown knives.

My dad set up his shop under the sun or a breakdown awning at every place we stayed and while he made and sold knives of all description to folks all over the US, we played, hiked, lived and enjoyed the world around us.

We stayed in a LOT of national parks and state parks. And private land. A lot of swap meets, antique shows and....festivals.

The American trails series comes directly from these experiences.

From the rough carved trail markings on the bolsters, to the great American eagle watching over the water for its next meal.

This is a highly personal design, yet I am sure it will ring true in many of you as well.

Without fail I get choked up at some point during the making of every single one of them.

I am absolutely honored to be here and offer this design and as such I do my level best to imbue this series (and everything I make really)

with the spirit of not only my father's passion and the spirit of our family's trip but truly the spirit of our great nation and it's trails, forest and waters.
